Two-day training Exploratory testing | Polteq, specialist in software testing

In current Agile software development, there is strong focus on test automation. In this, the fact that computers can only check what they are programmed to do is overlooked. Computers are strong in checking deviations from expected behaviour. However, in every product of some complexity, it is impossible to predict its behaviour completely upfront. When executing only automated tests, there is a big chance that important bugs are missed because we do not expect them. When an agile test strateggy is only based on test automation, it misses an important component.

Exceptional testing is done when automated testing is combined with investigating and challenging the product in a creative manner. Then you not only look for expected behaviour in the product, but also for unexpected behaviour and robustness. By skilled investigation you fully understand all the capabilities of the product. Also those capabilities of which you were not aware that you did not know them but which could easily be unwanted! This is the playground of the creative, human tester, this is the discipline exploratory testing!

In the two-day training exploratory testing you learn the theory and skills of professional exploratory testing in an interactive way, so you are able to add more value to the team and the product by finding important bugs that a computer cannot find. With exploratory testing you also feed test aautomation with important, new test ideas.

If you want to know what you do not know about exploratory testing, if you want to experience how much more effective and fun testing becomes if you let your creative part join in on testing, this is the training for you.

What is the target audience for the training Exploratory testing?

  • Starting testers
  • ISTQB/TMap certified testers who needs to perform in an agile team
  • Product Owners who want to improve their acceptance skills

  • You learn to use your right, creative, brain halve during testing which improves testing and makes it more fun.

  • You are capable to explain to sceptics of exploratory testing what the difference is between skilled exploratory testing and monkey testing.
