Faster, cheaper and more frequent testing
Faster and cheaper testing. And especially an increase in test coverage and thereby a reduction of risk. That’s what test automation is all about. Test automation is a godsend for test scripts that cannot be executed manually or efficiently. Test automation also plays an important role in the adoption of Agile, DevOps and Continuous Integration. Polteq knows better than anyone else which tests can be automated, and which do not lend themselves to it. We successfully set up test automation. Polteq always selects the tools and programming languages best suited to your situation.
How does Polteq tackle test automation? We start by identifying the bottlenecks that need to be resolved and what goals need to be achieved with automation. Polteq uses its in-house developed approach “Test Improvement for Automation” (TI4Automation) for this purpose.
Based on the results of this analysis, concrete efforts will follow, as described below. Our testing professionals perform all of these activities for you.
Determine goals and select test tooling
First, we determine the objective of automating testing. This provides a clear framework for the next steps in the process, such as tool selection, architecture and setup. Part of these goals can include the possible need for training and coaching.
Test tool selection
Next, we are going to select the test tooling. The tooling must meet the technical requirements, fit the organization, have an appropriate price and be future-proof. Because Polteq is completely independent, we make no distinction between open source or commercial tooling. A proof of concept reveals which tooling is suitable and eligible for selection.
Architecture and setup of tooling
At Polteq, test automation takes place “under architecture”. This describes the elements within test automation and how they are related. A solid architecture makes the test automation solution solid, reusable and future-proof.
The rollout of test automation is incremental and controlled. To set it up, Polteq ensures a good fit with the testing process and adequate training of people.
Scripts, execution and management
There are many gains to be made with efficient test automation. Test professionals from Polteq program the test scripts within the architecture. After running the tests, the analysis shows which outcomes do not meet the expected results and why that is. Changes in the application and/or environments require maintenance, but the right architecture and good test scripts reduce that maintenance requirement significantly.
