Failure is not an option
(It’s a chance)

Welmoed Bruring

You can learn from mistakes, but how exactly do you do that? I always preferred to avoid failure and was very perfectionist as a result. Until I learned in a climbing gym to embrace failure, learn from my mistakes and, moreover, have fun in the process. For me, these insights also brought changes in my mindset outside the climbing gym, making me more fun and successful in facing challenges. It may sound contradictory when I say that you can be more successful by daring to fail, but in this presentation I explain why that is so anyway. Using my own experience and underpinned by insights from psychology, I show that making mistakes is very useful, can even be fun. I provide practical tools to deal with mistakes in an analytical way and actually learn from them.
