Automate your mobile tests with the same clarity you're used to from Playwright, now for Android and iOS

More and more companies rely on mobile apps, yet in practice these apps are often still tested manually, or with tools that turn out to be brittle and time-consuming. Anyone who has ever worked with Appium knows the feeling: a selector that breaks again with the very next app update, and a test that fails because it didn’t wait quite long enough.

Mobilewright takes the approach that made Playwright popular for testing websites and applies it to mobile apps on Android and iOS. Familiar concepts such as locators, auto-waiting and the Page Object Model work the same way here, which makes the switch especially easy for anyone already working with Playwright.

This training combines theory with plenty of hands-on exercises on a real Android emulator, built around a single ongoing case that is expanded in each module. The trainer actively contributes to the open-source Mobilewright project, so they can speak from firsthand experience about what the tool does and does not (yet) support.

Good to know:

  • Participants receive a detailed installation guide in advance, so no class time is lost installing Android Studio and an emulator.
  • The training focuses primarily on Android, with an optional section on iOS for those who want to explore it.

Day one covers the fundamentals: how Mobilewright, mobilecli and mobile-mcp work together, how to set up a project, how to locate elements, and how to write your first automated test. Day two builds on this to create a maintainable test suite using the Page Object Model, with attention to platform-specific considerations, hybrid apps with webviews, and running tests in the cloud.
