Nowadays, almost every IT project uses APIs (application programming interfaces) to handle communication between two pieces of software. In some projects the APIs are created, in others pre-existing APIs are used. In either case, there is a need to verify that the APIs are doing their job properly. But how do you do this?
This two-day training course focuses on structured testing of an API, both from a functional and technical point of view. We focus on REST APIs, but the concepts also apply to other types of APIs. We start by establishing what to test and why it is relevant to run these test cases. We also set up an automated framework to run the tests consistently.
At the beginning of the training we start by executing a few requests on an API separately. Along the training days, the tests and the associated framework will be expanded further. Special attention will be given to specific checks that are needed when testing an API, as well as setting up a maintainable test framework.
This two-day training is intended for IT professionals who have to deal with the proper selection and execution of (REST) APIs tests. Practical testing experience is desired. Participants are asked to bring a laptop if possible. A Hands-on training course that uses Java and REST Assured to perform API testing.
