Test Specialisations
Polteq’s test managers or test engineers can fulfil the role of test professional in your test project, or our test consultants can provide support to the test team within your organisation. Based on a standard approach for structured testing, Polteq has developed specific test approaches for a number of specialties. The most widely applied are those for ERP and datawarehouse testing.
ERP
A growing number of organisations are selecting ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) solutions as the business platform for successful and efficient business management. From production planning to mobile sales, ERP provides solutions and services necessary for an organisation to be able to make the best use of the internal and external business opportunities. Within your organisation the following ERP modules can be implemented:
- Purchase
- Sales (with EDI options)
- Finance
- HR
- Etc.
The differences between testing an ERP module or a ‘traditional’ administrative application were reason for Polteq to develop a TMap® based test approach, which is focussed on the characteristics of ERP. This approach consists of means to define the test strategy, the depth of testing and the use of test specification techniques. The focus will be on testing of the configuration of ERP modules once installed at customer side, with specific areas like construction, authorisation, reports, interfaces, conversion and enhancements.
Consultants of Polteq are able to fulfil the function of test manager or test engineer in ERP projects, or to give support to the test team within your organisation.
Datawarehouse
A datawarehouse is used for gathering data, answering questions and taking strategic decisions. Because of the impact of these decisions it is crucial that the data and the processing of the datawarehouse are correct. After all the management must be able to trust the information which is based on these data. Software testing can contribute in the confidence of the information of a datawarehouse.
The differences between testing a datawarehouse or a ‘traditional’ administrative application were for Polteq reason to develop an on TMap® based test approach, which is focussed on the characteristics of a datawarehouse. This test approach contains as well a test strategy as test specification techniques. Next to it this test approach gives directives for testing the ETL procedures and reports.
